I used to be a big fan of the Crabtree & Evelyn hand scrub, but came across something much cheaper and all natural. My hands are usually a mess in the winter, with the heater running and washing my hands constantly. Instead of purchasing an expensive scrub, just try this:
Pour some olive oil in the palm of your hand. Now shake either sugar or salt into the oil. You control how intense the scrub will be by how much salt or sugar you use. Now rub your hands together like crazy. Rinse off with water and you won't believe how soft your hands will be.
PS I've tried this on my lips as well, but make sure you use sugar! I tried the salt and yuck!!
Lipsy
I do this as a body scrub also. Great results. I would just wash first and then do the scrub and rinse. Great tips!!!! I am so loving the tips from everyone!
Can any policy, however high minded, be moral if it leads to widespread corruption, imprisons so many, has so racist an effect, destroys our inner cities, wreaks havoc on misguided & vulnerable individuals and brings death and destruction to foreign countries?
1thanks for the idea.
2i always get dry hands in the winter, and i keep washing my hands so moisturizer never works.
i actually used to buy an expensive olive oil and salt scrub -- um, i'm stupid. i can now make it for much less $$! thanks!
3i've done this and i agree. olive oil is a great moisturizer!
4Thanks for tip!!!!
5This feels really good on your hands!!
6I do this as well.
Here's a supplementary tip: Do this right before you wash dishes. Then slather your hands with any rich, inexpensive moisturizer, put on latex gloves, and wash the dishes. The heat from the dishwater will help the moisturizer penetrate your skin, and leave your hands silky soft.
7It's so funny that Olive Oil is so great for skin and it's in Fekkai's glossing line, too. I'd assume oil=clogged pores, but Extra Virgin Olive Oil is sold many places as face moisurizer. And when I was younger my friends and I would take a big bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil to the beach with us and just bake and tan. Soooo bad! Thanks for the hand tip!
8wow that's awesome - great tip! - my hands always look so horrible in the winter. My guy is getting ready to propose - we just picked out a ring. So I've been trying to keep my hands looking nice, but it's not working out
I'll try this!
And that's a good tip with the dishwashing Jude.
